Got to Favour Savour!

It was my first time, but I'll definitely be going back! It's in the diary already. The Savour Kilkenny Festival of Food celebrated its 12th year this October Bank Holiday weekend and I'd have to say it was very impressive. From the warm friendly vibe, to the massive variety of food stalls, to the broad array of celebrity chefs, foodies and Nutritionists, this festival was packed with something for everyone who loves good food. There was a strong leaning towards healthier eating which was right up my alley but it wasn't zealously so, which meant that you could indulge in some naughty treats if you felt like having a splurge.

Family friendly, the festival is well geared towards encouraging parents to bring their kids and yet there was something for everyone so lots to do for all age groups. Spanning 5 days from Thursday to the Bank Holiday Monday you could make a mini break out of the festival, which is exactly what we did. My husband Brian O'Toole (Leinster Honey) was giving an Introduction to Beekeeping Workshop on the Saturday morning at the Kilkenny Design Centre, so myself and our two children joined him afterwards and spent the next two days moving from food stalls to cookery demos to medieval dance displays at the castle, savouring lots of what this festival has to offer.

Next year I want to make sure I get to attend the festival opening evening event too. It's in my diary.....
